News @ Kings Theatre
Another Year & another Season of Cheddar Arts has arrived & we hope you will find a film/films that will attract you to join us at The Kings Theatre from The New Year Programme.
I am starting this newsletter with a tinge of disappointment. We felt we had achieved another coup for Cheddar by inviting Jenni Murray the long-time presenter of Womans Hour, author & journalist to discuss her new book "A History of Britain in 21 Women" & to talk about her long career & answer questions about the many amazing people she has interviewed. All had been confirmed, her evening announced, & leaflets & publicity ready to go to print. Until she found she had double booked our date! "Miffed" wasn't the word... to say nothing of the extra work it has taken to change our events. These things happen of course, but I am hoping someone buys Dame Murray a diary for Christmas to avoid a repeat disappointment for others!
So we are showing four films this Season, but we have plans to search for a stonker of a Live Event in the Summer to make up for it.
The Four Films provide a really varied programme of movies we feel. The tender story & terrific acting of "Learning to Drive." The fun & mishaps (to say nothing of a chance to see Colin Firth on the big screen) of Bridget Jones. The true story of the miracle that was the landing of an airliner on the Hudson River by "Sully" played by the ever marvellous Tom Hanks... & the tense thriller of "The Girl in the Train" based on the novel by Paula Hawkins. Variety is our Watchword!
Depending on when you are reading this may we wish you...(or that you had) a Merry Christmas, & that 2017 will be a Happy Healthy & Prosperous Year for You & Yours. Thank you for your support & long may it be continue.
