“They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them.”

Those four lines never fail to

send a shiver down my spine…

writes Joe Maggs, of The Kings and

Queens News Team.

On the 11th

of November, every year, since just under

one hundred years ago, this country falls silent for two

minutes to remember those who have made the ultimate

sacrifice. They have done so not for personal gain, not for

money, not for any materialistic goal. They have done so

for our freedom, for our safety, and to serve the country

they love. What these brave men and women do every

single day is one of the most honourable services any hu-

man can carry out.

Throughout Remembrance

Week, students of The Kings

of Wessex Academy attended their

local church, St Andrew’s Church

here in Cheddar, to join together

and remember the brave service-

men and servicewomen who have

tragically lost their lives in the line

of duty.

As always, the services were moving,

respectful and enjoyable and we

thank Mrs Shorrock, Mr Targett and

all the students involved.

“We will remember them.”
