In October, Year 12 students enjoyed an intro-
duction to the world of motoring in order to
encourage safe driving and road awareness.
The students started the session with a short lecture
on safe driving practice and then got to grips with the
real challenges of skill and awareness with opportunity
to try driving on the school tennis courts.
As they took to the wheel they were assessed for their
reaction to speed using the simulators, and attempted
the theory test hazard perception, researched road sta-
tistics for Somerset and were able to see what effect
alcohol could have on their reactions.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience with
many driving for the first time!

Look for the colour of the instructor’s license
to see if they are fully qualified and drive safely.
Sixth Form Taster Day:
Liberté, égalité, fraternité
- perhaps as much the motto of Kings’ Sixth Form as that of France.
For it isn’t just during your frees and when you go out at lunchtime that you feel the respect and liberty that is
entrusted to you: but also in everything which you do as a Sixth Former. From the interaction in lessons to the
conversations with your teachers, it makes you feel every bit an adult.
For me it was History that really got my brain working, and posed many questions - but beautifully - very few
definitive answers. Yes, there’s more work to do and longer sources to read; but to be able to study the things
you really love in a way that really suits you… Sixth Form is definitely something to look forward to.
