There are 13 governors on the Kings Academy Board, made up of 4 foundation governors, 4 community governors, 4 parent governors and 1 staff governor. Governors are appointed by the members of the Wessex Learning Trust, parent governors are elected by parents of current students and staff governors are elected by school staff, except the headteacher who is ex-officio.
The full governing body usually meets four times per year. A large part of these meetings is used to discuss the work carried out by the governor committees.
There are two committees, each aligned to the responsibilities of a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) who attends the meeting. Five to eight governors sit on each committee, utilising their individual experience and skills.
