Riding to Success at the Winter League National Finals
22nd March, 2017 by Jude Owens
The season is already off to a splendid start for the Equestrian Team following the Winter League National Finals at David Broome's Wales and West Arena last weekend (18/19 March 2017).
It was a great start to the day. Kings entered the 70cm team in which two new riders Naomi Pollard and Abbie Jamieson enjoyed clear rounds, with Abbie finishing in fourth place individually and the team finishing in first place. With no team in the 80cm Winter League Final the team awaited the next class.
The 90cm final did not disappoint with Kings again taking team first place and Sam Fountain taking second individually and Katie Thomas taking fourth supported by Alice Sandiford and Hattie Newton on a tricky course in which three teams were eliminated.
The 100cm championship team class was also won by Kings and for good measure Sam was individual champion, along with Katie coming fifth, with good rides from Emily Mugford and Alice Sandiford.
The 110cm championship was also taken by Kings who dominated the individual awards with Katie taking the individual 110cm championship and also third place on her second ride, whilst Sam came fourth and Emily, with a lovely round, took fifth place.
The Team also entered some league classes at the championship where they performed to a high standard.
The 80cm team came fifth and well done to Abbie Jamieson, Naomi Pollard and Hattie Newton and to Katie who took second individually.
A very special congratulations to the 90cm league class who saw Kings, once again, take first place and Sam take first again. The 100cm class was also won by Kings and the individuals was another triumph for Kings with Katie placed second, Emily third, Alice fourth and Sam fifth.
Well done again to all the riders who competed and achieved these fantastic results.
The Kings Equestrian Team are always looking for new members, so please do contact the Academy if you wish to get involved.
