Year 11 Students Dance the Night Away at the Prom

7th July, 2017 by Jude Owens

A tank, a City of Los Angeles police car (yes, really), a VW campervan, limos, tractors, an Austin Healey and lots more classic cars - too many to mention, but all admired, were just some of the modes of transport by which Year 11 travelled to their prom at the Webbington Hotel on Wednesday 28 June 2017.

The GCSE exams over, it was time for fun. All the students were dressed in their finery in beautiful dresses and smart suits ready to hit the dance floor to bop the night away with favourite dance numbers played by the DJ and also fellow Year 11 student band, the Polecat Riots. The students were smiling and happy, as was Year 11 Leader Mrs Lowis, the Tutor Team and staff who accompanied them.

The students now have the long summer ahead of them with time to pursue hobbies and moments with loved ones. The Academy looks forward to many of them returning in September to the Sixth Form when they will be undertaking their chosen studies at A Level/BTEC and wish them good luck for their exam results to be published on Thursday 24 August 2017.

The evening was particularly moving as is likely to be the last time the year group will be together and the Academy thanks parents for their support and helping to make the evening so lovely – and sparkly!
