Delicious Designs for Cake Topper Competition
29th September, 2017 by Jude Owens
Last week ended on a delicious note at The Kings of Wessex Academy when Executive Headteacher Mr Ball and his fellow Academy Leadership Group were invited to the presentation of the Design Technology Week cake topper design competition.
As part of the Design Technology Week at the end of last term, Year 10 Food Technology students had opportunity to design a unique cake topper on the theme of “Kings”. After careful judging, the design by Victoria Alexander was chosen for her fabulous design of the Kings’ crown with dangling ties from the circular face shapes, that was brought to life in icing.
The other icing on the cake to celebrate Victoria was very fittingly a Victoria Sandwich that the Department Team, Miss Beacham and Mr Batchelor, along with Mr Ball and his team, all enjoyed tucking into. Victoria and the runners-up, Amy Graham-Brown and Poppy Landers, were all presented with a Headteacher’s Commendation.
Also at the presentation were Daisy Buffham, Finn Marjoram and Sophie Gardner for their excellent Thorpe Park and Legoland trip worksheets.
Commenting on Victoria’s win, Mr Ball said:
“Well done Victoria for your winning cake topper design that was fun and imaginative using the Kings’ logo!”
Mr Ball is hoping it might become a tradition at Kings to run lots of competition where the prize is cake.
