Year 11 Students Dance the Night Away at the Prom

29th June, 2018 by Jude Owens

A pink limo, VW campervan, lorries and tractors, motorbikes, Ferraris, and lots of other very posh cars all gleaming in the evening sunshine, and admired by the audience of fellow prom-goers, parents and teachers, transported Year 11 students from The Kings of Wessex Academy to their prom at Rookery Manor last Wednesday (27 June 2018).

The GCSE exams officially over, it was time for a party and the students were dressed to impress in stunning prom gowns and smart suits. It was a hot evening, but the DJ mixed favourite dance numbers and students bopped the night away and in between dancing they enjoyed a delicious buffet. For those feeling extra lucky, there was a mini casino or to capture some special moments, students could dress-up for fun and have their picture taken with friends in the photo booth.

The prom followed a special celebration assembly in school the day before with much laughter and happy nostalgia and students thanked Year 11 Leader Mr Tim James for organising the evening and for all his endeavours, encouragement and support during the past three years.

Executive Headteacher Mr Gavin Ball said:

“It was wonderful to see our students so smiley, relaxed and happy after all their hard work for the exams. I wish them a long and lovely summer break to pursue hobbies and time with loved ones and I look forward to welcoming many of them back to Kings in September when they join our Sixth Form and Sports Academy.”

The evening was all the more meaningful as is likely to be the last time the year group will be all together and the Academy thanks parents for their support and helping to make the evening so special and sparkly!

The Academy wishes all the students every good luck for their exam results due to be published on Thursday 23 August 2018.
