Joe is proud Player's Player of the Year for Winscombe Hockey
7th May, 2019 by Jude Owens
Year 11 student Joe Morgan has reason to feel proud of himself after he was voted player's player of the year in his chosen sport of hockey for the 2018/2019 season.
A member of Winscombe Hockey Club for the past two years, Joe plays right forward (attack) and is delighted with his accolade after receiving the most votes by his peers for a number of matches. Accomplishments are also coming in thick and fast for the whole team and whilst matches are mostly local, they recently enjoyed a victory in an international match in Wales.
Joe used to play for Somerset following his successful selection in the trials until he peaked at the top age limit; but he has greatly enjoyed and benefited from the experience of playing for his county team. He has also played on the school team for Kings. But all good things come to an end, as Joe’s favourite sport, hockey is traditionally a winter game; although the summer league is now underway, and the team will be playing friendly matches this season.
Joe is currently preparing for his GCSE's and will be continuing into the Sixth Form and hopes to study Biology, Chemistry and Music.
Executive Headteacher Gavin Ball said:
