Year 12 Biologist getting up close with nature!

1st July, 2019 by Becki Pearce

Year 12 Biologists from The Kings of Wessex Academy got up close to nature in the sunshine on their recent Biology fieldtrip to Westbury Quarry. As part of their A level practical skills requirements, students were involved in planning and investigating the effect of an environmental factor on the distribution of a species. This involved a habitat survey using quadrats and transect surveys.

A great experience for all to be out in the field gaining invaluable hands on experience. Always an outstanding trip that allows students to put their Biological studies into practise, this trip really brings the subject to life in such a stunning setting. The students showed enthusiasm and curiosity whilst observing creatures in their natural habitat. Well done to all involved !
