To add to his GCSE success, Kings of Wessex Academy student Finlay and his helm Quinn Edmonds from Bristol, secured 7th place at the RS Feva World Championships in Italy.
Keen sailors Fin and Quinn had some very competitive races over the six day event in Follonica, Italy coming through qualifying in Gold fleet and winning the first race of the competition, beating former Olympic medallist and 470 World Champion Simon Cooke from New Zealand. 24 countries were represented and there was intense competition, with the boys holding a 2nd place ranking going into the final day of racing. Some changeable weather and super racing from their competitors meant a 7th place overall. It was such an amazing experience sailing in the Mediterranean and meeting sailors from all over the World.
Fin and Quinn have spent the rest of the summer training in the 29er, their next class of racing dinghy, and this weekend are competing in Weymouth for their place in one of the National squads.
