From Sadlers Wells to Cheddar - a star in the making at Kings !

12th September, 2019 by Becki Pearce

Innes, who has just joined the Kings of Wessex Academy in year 9, started the new term having just come off stage at Sadlers Wells in London. Back in April, Innes successfully auditioned for the National Youth Ballet (NYB). She attended 2 auditions in Birmingham and London and was one of the lucky 75 dancers selected from 100s to be in the Main cast. This was her third season with NYB, having twice danced principal roles in the Junior cast.

Innes spent 2 weeks of her summer holiday at Elmhust Ballet School in Birmingham, working with professional teachers and choreographers, learning two completely new ballets to perform. After a brief day at home, she went back to Birmingham to perform at the Crescent Theatre for three performances. The company then traveled to London for the final Gala performance at Sadlers Wells on 1st September, considered to be one of London's finest dance theatres, and in the presence of ballet stars such as Liam Scarlett, Dame Monica Mason and Francesca Hayward who were in the audience.

It was a really special experience for Innes, who hopes to have a career in ballet, as NYB provides such a great opportunity for young dancers to learn, perform and meet other children from all over the UK.
