Year Nine Science Festival

18th Jun, 2009, by Jude Owens

Year 9 students were treated to an explosive Science Festival last Thursday at The Kings of Wessex School when Dr James Penny and Dr Alison Franklin from The Travelling Science Group wowed the audience with an exciting range of chemical reactions. There were screams of delight in response to exploding hydrogen balloons, ever-changing coloured solutions and erupting mock volcanoes.

Enrichment Leader for Science Louise Meldon said: "All the students really enjoyed themselves. Not only was it was a fun and engaging way to educate them about this fascinating subject; but it demonstrated how relevant Science is in everyday life and that Chemistry is at work everywhere."
