Physical Education
The transferable skills you learn through your study of A Level Physical Education, such as decision making, independent thinking and evaluation of own your own ability, can provide an excellent platform for a range of non-sport related work places.
A Level Physical Education encourages students to immerse themselves in the world of Sport and PE with the chance to perform or coach a Sport. It will allow the student time to develop theoretical knowledge and understanding of the factors that underpin physical activity and Sport, and use this knowledge to improve performance.
Studying A Level Physical Education would give you the opportunity to improve your knowledge and personal skills in sports and exercises of your choice, to a high level. It will enable you to learn about how best to prepare your own body and mind to maximise your performance or to enable others to perform. This Course will help students to understand why Sport has developed the way it has done; be this culturally, historically, biomechanically or physiologically. This qualification will help contextualise both Maths and Biology in an applied setting together with complementing many
other A Level subjects.
Students will follow the OCR specification which includes:
- Applied Anatomy and Physiology.
- Exercise Physiology.
- Biomechanics.
- Skill Acquisition.
- Sport Psychology.
- Sport and Society.
- Contemporary Issues in Physical Activity and Sport.
A Level Physical Education is recognised and accepted at all universities including Oxford and Cambridge. The Course should help to prepare students for further courses such as Sport Science, Sports Psychology, Physiotherapy and Sports Journalism.
