Art, Craft and Design
Enrichment opportunities include artist-led workshops, visits to local art galleries, residential trips to London, Paris and/or Barcelona.*
If you are self-motivated and passionate about Art and Design or inspired by the challenge of working creatively to a project theme or design brief, then this is the course for you. You will get hands-on experience in a range of Art, Craft and Design disciplines from Fine Art, Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, Sculpture, Ceramics and Printmaking to Digital Design, Textiles and Photography.
The Course develops skills in the following areas:
- Art encourages self-expression and creativity and builds confidence as well as a sense of individual identity.
- Creativity helps with wellbeing and improving health and happiness.
- Through studying Art you will develop critical thinking and the ability to interpret the world around you.
- Component 1: Personal Investigation. You will conduct a practical investigation, into an idea, issue, concept or theme of your choice leading to a finished outcome, supported by a 1000–3000-word essay.
- Component 2: You will respond to a stimulus, provided by AQA and work independently within specified time constraints, to develop a personal and meaningful response that leads to a finished outcome.
This Course will equip you with the skills for a future career in the creative industries. Kings’ Art students go on to secure places on top rated Art Foundation and Degree Courses across the UK. Art and Design careers include Advertising, Architecture, Visual Art, Crafts, Fashion and Textiles, Design, Graphics, Music, Photography, Film and Video, Computer Games, Radio and TV, Writing and Publishing, Heritage, Software/Electronic Publishing, Cultural Education to name but a few!
