Drama and Theatre
This Course offers the wonderful opportunity to practically and theoretically explore all aspects of Theatre.
Drama and Theatre A Level will provide you with opportunity to interrogate Drama and the work of others, to explore a range of Drama as a practical art form, and to work independently to create your own Drama performances making informed artistic choices.
Having separate performance and design components for the non-exam assessments allows you to follow your own interests and study either performance or design skills in depth. It also provides freedom to experiment and take risks with your work while working on developing your own style.
Students participate in two performance components as either a performer or a designer (lighting, sound, set or costume). One of these is a performance from a text, the other a devised performance based on and influenced by their research into the work of others.
- Component 1 – Practitioners in practice.
- Component 2 – Exploring and performing texts.
- Component 3 – Analysing performance.
- Component 4 – Deconstructing texts for performance.
Drama and Theatre A Level will prepare you for the further study of Drama or Performing Arts courses in Higher Education as well as developing transferable skills desired by all sectors of industry.
The course will support you to be an independent, critical thinker and effective at decision making as well as nurturing interpersonal and public speaking skills – all personal attributes that can make you stand out as you progress into employment
