Welcome
Welcome to Kings Academy – a place where every member of our community matters, and where we recognise that every interaction, however small, has the potential to shape a young person’s sense of self, purpose, and possibility. Belonging isn’t just something we value; it’s the foundation on which everything else is built.
We are proud to be the top-performing secondary school in Somerset, with consistently strong results at Key Stage 4 and 5. But numbers only tell part of the story. Just as important is the daily effort – by staff and students alike – to create a culture where curiosity is nurtured, support is expected, and ambition is shared. We are committed to striking the right balance: helping every student make meaningful academic progress while also receiving exceptional pastoral care and opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.
Our curriculum is broad and balanced, designed to prepare students for life beyond school. From academic challenge to enrichment activities, we want every student to feel stretched, seen, and supported. Our beautiful grounds and excellent facilities nestled in the heart of the Cheddar Valley community provide the perfect environment for students to thrive – not just academically, but personally.
At Kings, we want every child to believe that they can succeed – and we recognise that each of us has both the capacity and the responsibility to help them do so. Our role is to support their growth, to help them flourish, and ultimately to guide them towards recognising and celebrating their own success.
As a Church school, we are proud to uphold a strong set of values that are inclusive and meaningful for all members of our community, regardless of faith background. We are proud to be a Rights Respecting school awarded by UNICEF. These values inform the way we learn, work, and grow together.
That’s why we are ambitious in our intent. Our expectations are high, and so are our standards. Through consistency, mutual respect, and a culture of belief, we prepare students to lead lives of integrity, confidence, and purpose. Our PRIDE values which stand for Positivity, Respect, Integrity, Democracy and Equality are writ large through the curriculum, pastoral provision and relationships.
If you’d like to know more, we’d be glad to welcome you. Come and see for yourself what life at Kings is really like.
Believe and succeed.
