Praise from Regional Schools Commissioner
for Progress at GCSE!
We were delighted to start this half term on a triumphant note with a letter from
the Regional Schools Commissioner for the South West Rebecca Clark, congratulat-
ing the Academy on the progress made by students at GCSE.
This new performance measure was one of two implemented this year by the Department for Education to report
on the progress students make from the end of primary school to the end of secondary school across eight qualifi-
cations at GCSE. Progress 8 is intended to encourage schools to offer a broad and balanced curriculum with a fo-
cus on an academic core at Key Stage 4.
Our Progress 8 score positions Kings as one of the region's highest performing schools and the Academy is proud
to be in the top 6% of schools across the country. Ms Clark noted the achievement is all the more impressive as
the new performance measure was only introduced this year and said:
"I never underestimate the sheer hard work which sits behind results like these."
