Cheddar Community Fun Day

7th June, 2018 by Jude Owens

The bright colours on the poster say it all and the use of fun in the title.

On Saturday 23 June 2018 from 10am until 4pm, The Kings of Wessex Academy is hosting a Cheddar Community Fun Day in collaboration with local charity “The Space.”

Whilst it is usually Kings’ students who enjoy the school field, Kings is looking forward to welcoming staff, parents and local supporters for this fun day of fundraising activities and raising awareness of mental health in young people. Lots of activities for all ages will be on offer, including a farmers’ market, craft stalls, tombola, races, bouncy castle, food and drink (including the traditional summer BBQ!) and entertainment by local groups.

The Space is a Cheddar-based charity, providing support to teenagers throughout the Cheddar Valley by offering team and peer relationship-building activities; with trained councillors available for any teens in need of some neutral emotional support.

Everyone is welcome to attend and if you are interested in setting up a stall, then please call the Academy on 01934 742608 or email who will be pleased to help and tell you more.

Entry price is £1 for adults and free for children. Unfortunately due to health and safety dogs are not able to attend.

Executive Headteacher Gavin Ball said:

“I am delighted we are hosting this exciting community event at Kings and I hope it will be the first of many! Well-being and mental health are an integral part of our work across the Wessex Learning Trust and I thank everyone in advance for their support to raise money for the good works of The Space. I hope to see you there!”
