Making Music

7th Nov, 2008, by Jude Owens

At the end of last half term Shipham Pre-School combined musical forces when Sixth Form Kings of Wessex student Will Scott-Hartley and his double bass joined them for their Music Week.

The children aged between two and a half to four years love making music with their small keyboard and triangles, and singing and dancing. The Pre-School invited Kings to send a musician as part of their musical celebrations and Will treated the children to some of his own choices, including jazz and Van Morrison. Will then took requests from the class, with favourites "Row, Row, Row your Boat", "Batman", "Baa baa black sheep" - and as Christmas rapidly approaches, "Jingle Bells"!

Whilst some of the tiny students were initially scared of the big instrument played by tall student Will, they soon relaxed, danced and enjoyed a closer look at the instrument that was probably three times their height!
