Our Intent for Maths is to teach a rich, balanced and progressive curriculum. The curriculum
continuously builds including on the work of our middle schools.
The Maths Department is passionate about encouraging all pupils to build resilience, by
providing a safe environment where mistakes are valued as a necessary step in learning and
progression. We provide pupils with the confidence and competence to tackle mathematical
problems, develop fluency and reasoning skills. Pupils are given regular access to problems
encountered in the real world to reinforce the relevance of their learning journey.
We aim to open our students’ eyes to the creative, imaginative and inspiring world of Maths
so that they understand the careers and opportunities that the qualifications will bring
them. We work to ensure all pupils reach their potential, celebrate their successes and
foster an enjoyment of the subject. We aim that all pupils are numerate and feel supported
so that they can increase their ability to make reasoned and logical choices to enhance
future life chances.
