  1. A vision of: “Stimulating, engaging and enriching students’ learning experience to develop their employability through skills gained in enterprise and technology”.

The Business and Enterprise Department at Kings strive to:

  • Encompass the past, present and future in our teaching.
  • To prepare students for the competitive world of employment by developing their understanding of the local, national and global economy through analysing economic issues, problems and institutions that affect everyday life.
  • To equip students with the appropriate knowledge and skills needed to develop their employability and identify business problems and opportunities.
  • Care about current issues and global challenges and shape the future of our planet.
  • Become active citizens, equipped to play a dynamic role in their community and wider society.
  • Be guided by the British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different beliefs, different faiths and no faith.
  • Be high achievers, fulfilling their potential in exams to allow progression to further high-quality courses and training.

Modern Foreign Languages
A vision of: “Inspiring and engaging students to foster a sense of curiosity, enthusiasm and resilience to
become skilled and confident modern linguists with a broadening cultural awareness and global
outlook”.
The MFL Department at Kings strive to:

  • Create and develop skilled and confident modern linguists who have broad horizons and a
global outlook through a fostering of curiosity and a deeper understanding of the world from a
    young age.
  • Instil a sense of cultural awareness and the feeling that learning a foreign language is a lifelong
skill which can help to develop our students into global citizens of the 21st Century who are open
    and adaptable to new experiences.
  • Provide students with the skills to become enthusiastic, resilient and independent learners
whose levels of literacy allow them to interact with others in real-life situations and express
their ideas and thoughts in another language and understand and respond to native speakers,
    both in speech and writing.
  • Provide opportunities for students to communicate for practical purposes, learn new ways of
thinking and eventually to appreciate literature, cinema and film in the original language.
  • Establish a learning environment that encourages students to feel confident about taking risks
and developing informed opinions about the world around them, their rights and the
    importance of respect for others.
  • Encourage students to reflect on and enhance their skills, ask questions and enjoy a challenge.
  • Provide a foundation and a love for learning further languages, inspiring the ambition to study,
travel and work abroad, thereby enhancing our students’ employability skills and personal
    fulfilment.
